Talking with neurodivergent folks about how holiday family gatherings are stressful in the expectation to be present. For lots this is really hard. We decided setting up a puzzle, or other activity, in a space where you’d be deemed present but could remove yourself might be an option.

Been doing more consults lately. I love the openness and trust the individuals and teams bring to asking me to help them address complex issues in a respectful, moral, and ethical way.

It’s an honour when folks return after discharge. It’s great to see them, yet we both know they’re needing support. I’m glad they know they can come back when they need to and we don’t have to start from scratch. #TraumaInformed #Relationship

We need to remember that in our zeal to support folks with ACEs that asking folks to fill out ACE checklists can be traumatizing in itself. Do you need this info to provide services? Is it safe for the indiv for you to collect it? #TraumaInformed

Last week did a full day workshop on best practice in trauma counselling with neurodivergent and disabled individuals. Every single person engaged all day long, it was amazing! Lots of interaction and activities and learning from each other. It was so energizing and exhausting at the same time.

The hill I will die on is that active learning can be done no matter what the topic. Just spent multiple days of talking heads giving information that I have already forgotten. Sigh.

Struggling with systems so broken (set up like that) that morally and ethically find it acceptable to so utterly fail those they’re meant to support. It’s heartbreaking and gutting.

I don’t usually post personal things but I’m so thrilled with this focaccia that I have to brag a little. 🤞it tastes as good as it looks.
