Lovely wraith from dimensions unknown. Fanfic writer, book reviewer, and all around book lover. Absorbed mostly in my fan novel, an MLP recursive fanfiction called “The Sixth Alicorn.” You can read it here: https://www.fimfiction.net/story/437330/the-si
I think the only other Frankenstein that really examines that idea is Hammer’s Frankenstein. Cushing’s Baron is such an absolute bastard. He’s scarier than his creations.

R. L. Stine used to write *two* books a month! One for Goosebumps and another for Fear Street—and he was a ”search and peck” sort of typist!

Yup. Antifa even has their own flag. Here are some antifa soldiers raising it up.

I firmly believe Jackson would’ve hated Trump, and it would take the entire Secret Service to stop him from caning 47 into a stain on the floor.

It was based off reality. Much of 1984 was modeled after Stalin-era Soviet Union, where much of history was doctored to matched Uncle Joe’s whims, or to purge people whom Stalin executed. The photo below ⬇️ is an infamous example.

“The ABC Murders” by Agatha Christie. 6. Hercule Poirot receives disturbing letters from a serial killer who murders random people in alphabetical order and leaves an ABC Railway Guide with the body. Can Poirot stop this killer before he gets to “Zed?” 🧵/1

“Beyond Earth: Mapping the Universe” by the Smithsonian Institution. Edited by David Devorkin. 5. A collection of articles about our understanding of the universe. Each article has a different writer, several of whom were the actual discovers of certain phenomena.

I find it a little odd that Nike is the only stock gaining. Is that because Wall Street is running for the hills because of the economic collapse?

Okay, I’ll tell them. Ahem: you all are tiny specks on a mote riding a sunbeam, hoping to become the temporary masters of a tony speck of a speck.

Well, I just got in from seeing “The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie,” and I have no regrets about that at all! If you are willing and able, go see this movie! 🧵/1

23/ And he does try to make his black characters have more depth beyond just being black. We have some very humanizing moments with his black characters, particularly with Sergeant Willy Walker and his family. Walker is a paraplegic, Whois chosen by the Black Racer to be his avatar on Earth.

22/ I don’t think Kirby was trying to be racist here. This comes across as him trying to bring more minorities into comics, at a time where their presence in media was still rather rare. But like many other attempts like this in the 60s / 70s, the results tend to make modern readers wince.

The Black Racer is also quite uncomfortable too. He’s the grim reaper of the New Gods, who rides around on inter-dementia skis. Yes, it looks just as ridiculous as you can imagine. And yes, the “Black Racer” is also black.

20/ There’s also some uncomfortable racial depictions that wouldn’t fly today. One character is called “Vykin the Black,” who gets his own short story. He’s called that because…he’s a black man. That’s it. Yikes.

19. I’d say the only flaw with this book is that the final graphic novel, “The Hunger Dogs,” features characters and subplots from some of the other Fourth World books, particularly “Mister Miracle.” So, I was missing some context when Himon shows up to help Orion. Who is this?
February 2, 2025 at 10:32 PM
17/ My favorite is the destruction of New Genesis. It’s a combination of hand-drawn art and photo-realism, and for the life of me I cannot tell where one begins and the other ends.
February 2, 2025 at 10:25 PM
16. Let’s talk about Kirby more. His art, as always is phenomenal. He is surprisingly good at drawing very abstract buildings and machinery. His is the closest to Lovecraft’s “non-Euclidean” geometry I have ever seen! Many of his creatures, like the Leviathon, are amazing to look at.

14/ And in the end, Darkseid does end up alone, realizing himself to be a prisoner on his own world. This is not to say that Darkseid is really good under it all, but it does give him some depth that is missing from modern depictions of him.
February 2, 2025 at 10:15 PM
13/ He’s even capable of loneliness. After Desaad, interferes in a duel between Kalibak and Orion, Darkseid evaporates him with his Omega Blast. He later comes to regret killing Desaad, realizing that his “friendship” actually was valuable to him.
