We've been out a couple of times looking for shorties, and we've seen a few but they've been way back in the fields. This one is from this past spring before they left us for the summer.

While searching for shorties yesterday, we found this rough-legged hawk instead. It was a pretty gloomy and overcast day but we made the best of it. This hawk hung around for a long time, flying from tree to tree.

New bird for me as well, so yay!

While all the other birds were hanging out around the feeder this house sparrow was off to the side looking all nice in the sunshine.

Burrowing owl from last summer. We didn't get out to see these little owls as much as we would have like to this year.

"Ga-argh! Monday again?"
While this heron looks like he ran out the house after waking up late, he was actually being buzzed by blackbirds flying around him. He was probably fishing close to one of their nests.

Years ago, on our first adventure to Utah, we paused at a rest stop heading to Moab and discovered these two perched in a tree. They remained there long enough for us to take a lot of photos.
