Subject: Island of Strangers?

Mr Starmer,

Let me tell you about this ‘stranger’.

Over the coming days, we will see renewed calls from some for a rightward push, especially around immigration.

But echoing right-wing talking points whilst failing to improve material conditions will only create more fertile conditions for the kind of defeats we're seeing today.

Many who voted for change last year worry that Labour has abandoned the most vulnerable, with the PIP and winter fuel cuts coming up repeatedly on the doorstep.

Instead of doubling down, we need to learn the lessons of this defeat and change course.

To say today's #LocalElections results are disappointing is an understatement.

They show how the current strategy risks alienating our base whilst holding the door open for Reform.
