I have "good insurance" that has a 5k deductible. I already need to see a PCP before I can see a specialist. If I paid more in taxes, but reduced what I pay toward my insurance, I'd still come out ahead.

When I first started teaching, there were very few female teachers in math/science. The profession is mainly females now. The suggestion that more male teachers are needed is solid, but then you have to solve the other problem. Teaching is seen as "women's work" and that comes with reduced pay.
