We are filing a request for a preliminary injunction to block the extension of soldiers’ deployment in Los Angeles through Election Day.

There was never a need — and there is certainly no need now — for troops to be deployed against their own communities.

Arrrrwwrrrgh!! Is there one word for rage+disgust+cringe to express the visceral clenching this shameless Doublespeak racist history-bashing brings on? She gets one thing (accidentally) right -- museums have no place as laboratories for political experiment. Appalling.
White House official Lindsey Halligan: "While slavery is obviously a horrible aspect of our nation's history, you can't really talk about slavery honestly unless you also talk about hope and progress ... we need to stop focusing so much on the lack of progress."

The treason against the United States? The defense of slavery? All the losing? I bet it’s the losing.”

Tonight, I'll go home and sleep in my bed. I have a lawyer, I'll get due process.

But Edgardo, whose arm was ripped from mine by ICE agents, has none of those things.

That's why I'll keep coming back to court, week after week, to make sure that people's rights are protected.

Outstanding among all the lovely tributes to Jimmy Carter today. Truly worth a read - a sort of remembrance obituary from Carter biographer, Jonathan Alter (His Very Best). Worked on this book firsthand w/Jimmy who was, even in his 90s, "ridiculously sharp."

Local merchants in our little Napa Valley town hit on this nice holiday attraction a few years ago...the Barrel Tree! Stacks of wine barrels from St. Helena wineries. And yes, there's merch 😆🎄 Happy New Year, everyone - and get ready! Gonna need deep stores of restorative joy for the fight ahead.

I honestly never even aspired to tackle Milton's Paradise Lost but after reading this, I'm bound to try! Author Orlando Reade has me glimpsing a kindred soul, mourning, like us, the defeat and fall of his hopeful world and what, if only, might have been. Thanks for sharing, @tomaashby.bsky.social
