The Republican reaction to Kirk’s murder has been a campaign of state repression that ends with Trumpist toadies deciding what Americans are allowed to think, do and say. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

It should be way bigger news that Trump effectively killed any attempt by foreign countries to build new factories in the United States with this idiotic ICE move. Just incalculable long term damage.

The Nation pulls NO punches, from @espiers.bsky.social

"There's no requirement to take part in this whitewashing campaign. Refusing to join in doesn’t make anyone a bad person. It’s a choice to write an obituary that begins “Joseph Goebbels was a gifted marketer and loving father to six children.”
Charlie Kirk’s Legacy Deserves No Mourning
The white Christian nationalist provocateur wasn’t a promoter of civil discourse. He preached hate, bigotry, and division

Cato has published my comprehensive review of the ~240 Venezuelans the US government renditioned 2 months ago to Salvador’s notorious prison. We identified FIFTY who came legally, never violated any immigration law, but are imprisoned at the US government’s request and at US taxpayer expense.

i think the executive orders directing agencies to end energy efficiency regulations and open up more land to drilling and mining is so indicative of the character of the american right — in its view everything, whether people or our larger environment, is something to be exploited and dominated

The thing that truly worrisome is that talent driven journalism is just TikTok journalism. And tiktok journalism isn’t journalism, it’s not people investigating and uncovering new info. It’s putting the hard work of others in a green screen behind u and stealing it.
The Washington Post laid off most of their PR team as part of today’s cuts. Comms chief Kathy Baird said in an email to her team that the Post will “stop the dedicated practice of publicity for our journalism across broadcast and traditional media outlets."

"I know the Washington Post’s motto has become a punching bag—but it is horrifying that the instant “Democracy Dies in Darkness” was challenged, our media gave way and rolled over for Trump, delivering exactly what he and his repressive government want: submission, cash, and control."

Advice from a Literature teacher and resister: read your history, but don’t forget your literature.

Resistance is woven through the words of abolitionism and feminism and anti-fascism. Read the history and the literature.
