Yikes they really don't like it, do they? Thanks for the info.

I guess a publicity stunt then, along the same sort of lines? "Well we would like to be able to just help them across but the GOVERNMENT wants them to go across in small boats and won't provide safe routes or install a Calais office."

An idea: some well-known celebrities with £ hire a big (ferry-sized) boat and go over to France and attempt to offer a safe passage for asylum-seeking would-be channel crossers, to take them to UK shores to deliver them here to seek asylum.

At some point this'll fail, but the publicity should help.

Great work all round! Please tell him that the internet approves greatly.

DONE. Thank you.

Can you ask them, via that email address, to have the send something from their more official domain name? (if they have one) Apologise that there's a lot of scammers out there.

Then scrutinise the headers of such an email extremely carefully.

Thank goodness we still have some journalists around in the UK! Rather than just churnalists.

Well done Scotland, and Xander in particular.

I fully expect to see yet another post of this amazing picture of a fish tomorrow, with a caption such as

This is a RUGGED MUPPETFISH.

This is NOT a GOOSEFISH.
Nor is it a tasselled WOBBEGONG SHARK.

Then similar the day after, and the day after that, ...

That mac of yours is awesome!

Puzzled by the train growth figures though, what with the Botley Rd shenanigans and XC's general awfulness. Be nice to have some more rail though - maybe Witney?

It's not just migrants who are or will be skilled, although that makes a good rejoinder.

Ordinary migrants should be just as welcome. Diversity makes a good society. We welcome human beings because they are human beings! Remember overall, migrants' contribution is a net positive; we do not lose.

The lack of "Look! Here is an awesome dedicated cycle route next to your grid-locked main road!" doesn't help either.

I know they have, but the choice of language can very much affect how persuasive their arguments sound to folks who don't know much about the issue. I do honestly think that "puberty pausers" sounds less like sterilization than "puberty blockers".
December 8, 2025 at 7:57 PM
Ugh.

That does suggest that a change in language might be beneficial, though: "puberty pausers" not blockers.

"Blocker" is either being suggestive that puberty is then not possible, or it is being disingenuously used by anti-trans folks to try and convince others that puberty is 100% prevented.
