As a kid growing up, most of the stuff I loved came from the USA. Films, tv, comics. It really did seem like it might be the land of dreams. It‘s sadly turned into the land of nightmares. It‘s like watching 1984 unfold before your eyes.

Well, having watched the videos of what happened in Minnesota yesterday, it certainly looks like murder. And the lies being told by the Orange Antichrist and his cronies in an effort to change the narrative are just sick. I can’t believe anyone, regardless of affiliation, can actually condone this.

If only. 😢

Learned a lesson last year. Saw Addison Rae supporting Lana Del Rey at Wembley. The sound was awful so couldn’t tell what the songs were like, there was no band, and so I immediately dismissed her. Having now listened to her properly, I LOVE her stuff.

This wins the internet today. 😂
If we can capture another country's president, can another country come and capture ours? Asking for a friend.

So, just watching Four Weddings And A Funeral again as some Christmas relaxation. Can someone please explain to me why Charles (Hugh Grant) chooses Carrie (Andie MacDowell) over Fiona (Kristin Scott Thomas)?

For anyone who hasn’t read Tom Cox’s books, or may have missed one, please indulge yourself and get them all.
At the beginning of the year I had to face up to the fact my ex-publishers were imploding & would never pay me what they owed me for the 7 books I wrote for them.

It's been a battle.

There's still a lot of repair work to be done.

Bluesky has helped.

If you bought one of these in 2025, thank you.

... I realised, quite soon into writing the book, that I was not just writing a book about friendship, but about many other things, including the differences between the 20th and 21st-Century & how difficult they are to negotiate. bsky.app/profile/shau...
Finished Tom Cox’s Everything Will Swallow You last night. What a gorgeous book. Brought me to tears. Also, contains a rather bizarre parallel medical situation, not quite but almost matching my current one. That was very weird. But yes, anyone who hasn’t read it, go read it.
Author wrote best book he's ever written.
Publisher disintegrated/fucked off with author's earnings.
Book was finally published by new publisher.
Author has bought two hardbacks, for full price, to give away, signed.

Please repost/reply if you'd like a chance to win one..

Well, Trump’s comments about Rob and Michele Reiner - which I’m not going to repost - show what an unbelievably disgusting human being he is, in case anyone wasn’t already aware. And he appears to be the most insecure, thin-skinned person imaginable. What a waste of oxygen he is.

Speaking as a huge Michael Moorcock fan, I can’t help hoping this is something to do with Orland Fank and The Runestaff. 😉😂
Hoping for aliens/pirate treasure/ancient magical balls

This has lost me thousands of pounds (not to mention book sales) and put me in a state of terror and panic. I urge anyone thinking of moving their list from Substack, or wanting to know more about how Substack works, to read it....
I'm not going back to Substack. I will continue to post my newsletters from Ghost. But I did have to get back in there, just to post this and let people who thought I'd vanished know about this utter nightmare: substack.com/home/post/p-...
An Explanation (Which I Would Be Very Grateful If You Took The Time To Read)
What follows is a minor modern horror story.

Pooka! Never saw them. Wish I had, they were wonderful. Would love to have seen Natasha Lea Jones live too. I think she’s a genius.
So, musical artists you desperately wish you’d seen live:

Kate Bush (failed to get tickets for Before The Dawn).
ABBA (parents wouldn’t buy me a ticket)
Sandy Denny (hadn't discovered her then)
Radiohead (still hoping)
Caravan

Have seen almost everyone else, in some incarnation…

I would love to have seen Seconds Out era Genesis though, and Space Ritual era Hawkwind. And I never got to see Pink Floyd, which is baffling to me. Oh, and early Stranglers.

Same! Cheryl Miller as Paula in Daktari. I was approximately 5 years old. I wasn’t wrong, she was stunning!

Watched Last Christmas again last night. It was just what I needed. I don’t care what the critics thought, I loved it. Is it cheesy? Yes. who cares? It’s a feel good film, something we surely need more of these days. Emilia Clarke is just so adorable and gorgeous and Henry Golding is great.
