In a number of conversations, I’ve had to point to the ninth amendment in response to the argument, “there’s no right to that in the Constitution.” Citizens retain all rights not enumerated. So the Federalists were right; enumerating rights led people to question or deny any right not enumerated.

The most interesting thing that I learned from reading (and interpreting) Genesis on my own? That Adam and Eve were kicked out of paradise—by multiple gods—not for disobedience but to prevent them from becoming eternal (and therefore like the gods). Supernatural clubs can be quite exclusive.
