So why are teachers & healthcare workers voting down contract offers?

My last raise was 2018

Under the NDP we took 0%’s as an act of good faith.

During covid when our contract expired, we took 0%’s again as an act of good faith.

We acted in good faith.

We demand the UCP do as well.

If we can afford $30/day per kid under 12, we can certainly afford $10/day daycare for under 5’s

And if we demand freedom from equalization payments to Ottawa over lack of service then Albertans should receive rebate cheques from the province for unused Ed $ during this strike

I want my tax dollars to fund cost of living indexed teacher pay, appropriate student to teacher ratios, new schools with funded staff & covid shots for educators & staff.

Much of the $ can be found in Smith’s sideshow pandering to groups she needs to maintain leadership.

I’m seeing a number of School Trustee candidates avoid direct questions about any links they have to Take Back Alberta by stating they don’t know who they are

Even if I take the answer as honest & not obfuscation, I can’t vote for someone who is that oblivious to threats to education in Alberta.

It is quite simply dishonest to describe TPUSA as a “free speech” organization and not even mention the “Professor Watchlist,” as NPR just did. Reporting on a crime does not entail adopting the victim’s views.
