How lucky to be where I am right now. I have food in my belly and a roof over my head. I have people who love me despite my many flaws. I have friends who are there even when it gets hard. I'm so grateful to those that've seen me through this past year. Thank you for being my reason to press on.

I don't usually comment on celebrity deaths, but I was genuinely upset this morning to find out about the passing of Rob Reiner and his wife. Rob made some of my favorite films of the 80's and for him and his wife to go out in such an awful way makes my heart sink. May they both rest in peace.

I went to bed with YouTube playing on my phone and awoke this morning to find the end of Won't You Be My Neighbor, the Fred Rogers documentary, playing. Even half-awake, the bit where they all spend one minute of silence remembering people who helped them become who they are really gets me.

The worst part of this is that Amazon doesn't care if the reception is bad, because they know people will keep using their services regardless.
We need a massive boycott, but I struggle to see humanity having the collective self-control to make good on it.

As per usual, I also picked up some new Criterions from the bi-annual Barnes & Noble 50% off sale. If you haven't seen Flow, I highly recommend it, by the way.

I wrote more words about how it feels to be a translator watching the games press report on AI and labor, coming from a field that's fought these battles for decades. It may look like I'm beating up on one outlet, but it's not about them; I've been trying to write this for me and my peers all year.
I feel so envious of all my friends and acquaintances in the creative space who seem to have so many great ideas. I wish I had half the creativity that they do. Sometimes I think I was just meant to be the guy who just happens to be decently competent at a few things and that's all I'll ever be.

Since everyone else is posting theirs, I suppose I might as well put mine here.
Fun list, but even as someone who played it back when it was brand new, I kind of wish we could get past all this Chrono Trigger worship. Also, no Vagrant Story, so instant fail from me.

The original Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest are total comfort food for me. Every time I revisit them, whether through the originals or the many remakes, I can remember a time when free time was abundant, my TV only had about 3 channels, and a little gray box brought genuine magic into my life.
