You *are* aware that you're allowed to let other people enjoy things without "needing" to step in and well-actually them, right? I've been reading and rereading everything Tolkien for 45 years now, AND I've managed to enjoy the "No, it's not 100% canon" films for half of that, too. Maybe try that?

NB: Yes, folks, we're aware there's not a 1:1 correspondence between the books and the films. Just run with it. If you can't do that, just let other folks enjoy the things they enjoy.
