On this rewatch of Shin Godzilla, I came to appreciate how prominent a role director Shinya Tsukamoto (Tetsuo: The Iron Man) plays. Having the master of body horror ponder Godzilla's physical mutations and spiritual implications throughout the film adds tremendously to the bureaucratic ensemble.

Dan O'Bannon's THE RESURRECTED (1991) is yet another case study of why practical effects are timelessly superior to CGI at depicting the fantastic/ally horrific. Delightful artistry, & one of the best Lovecraft adaptations. A noir-ish mystery that goes full ALIEN in a necromancer's catacombs.
