Benji’s new raincoat definitely exceeded my expectations. It kept her super long body & tail bone-dry. I only had to dry off her face & wipe her toe beans after our walk this morning. Now, she’s back in her favorite sweater. 😍

One thing I love about Benji is how much she enjoys having things. She gets so riled up whenever I give her a new toy or sweater. In this case, I gave her a raincoat after work today. Benji licked my face in excitement and got a major case of the zoomies. 😍

I feel like it has been a minute since I last made pasta. Decided to prepare a batch of pasta with spicy sausage, broccoli rabe & white beans today. Overall, this dish turned out quite tasty. Note for next time: more broccoli rabe 🍽️

Benji had her grooming appointment today. As her reward, swung by my mom and dad’s house afterwards. My parents spoiled Benji rotten and let her sit on dining chairs 😂

Benji & I just got back from our walk. During said walk, we ran into someone. Benji slowed down & waited for the neighbor to pet her. When they walked right past us, the way Benji LOOKED AT ME was so hilarious & also heartbreaking. She looked so hurt by being slighted. Why hooman not give pets?

Making doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) is my favorite way to use up random odds & ends. This version features some thinly-sliced beef, potatoes, & enoki mushrooms. It’s finally kind of chilly in my neck of the woods, so this jjigae is the perfect cozy meal 🍽️

This is my first time baking a pumpkin marble loaf. Gotta work on my swirl game, but I am still quite happy with the results. This pumpkin bread has a tender crumb & wonderful flavor 🍽️

Thought about baking some pumpkin bread from scratch, but decided to use a pumpkin bread mix from Trader Joe’s instead. The bread is baking, the house smells divine, & I’m going to watch Carlo Mirabella-Davis’s Swallow (2019). Not a bad way to spend a lazy Sunday!

Japanese curry is a dish I grew to love and appreciate as an adult. I definitely took this meal for granted when I was a child, probably because my dad made it so often. Now, I crave it when I want comfort. Whipped up a batch of Japanese beef curry today to serve on top of some udon noodles 🍽️

My parents gave me their first harvest of Meyer lemons yesterday. Meyer lemons are my absolute favorite. I may need to make some lemon curd this weekend!

In preparation for a shared meal at work, decided to give this roux-less recipe a try. Tweaked it by adding Tabasco, mustard, & panko breadcrumbs. All in all, this was a pretty good dish. I’ll probably still stick to more traditional recipes in the future though! 🍽️

Had a bunch of leftover ingredients in the fridge. Decided to make a spicy hot pot with beef, enoki mushrooms, bean curd, and cabbage. This is basically comfort in a bowl 🍽️

I’ve fallen into the routine of cooking a cozy supper & watching a horror film on Friday nights. I look forward to planning the meal and finding a film to watch for the first time. Apparently Scott Derrickson’s Sinister (2012) is the scariest movie ever. We’ll see about that!

I’ve been hugging Benji close much more often these days bc the state of affairs in the U.S. is just so grim. As a result, she has been asking for even more hugs. She definitely knows that her mama needs some comfort 🥰
