Negotiations need the trust that both sides will honor the agreement that will be reached.

Putin has broken contracts before. He can only be trusted if he would lose much more than he would gain from breaking a contract.

Unless you equalize the GOP under Biden with 'fascist' I do not know what you might refer to.
December 22, 2025 at 10:23 PM
What kinds of legislation (within the confines of the constitution) would you have had in mind? What is the source for yanking the press passes and the reason for yanking them?
Of course they had to hand over the 'levers of power' (which I assume alludes to the term 'peaceful treansition of power')
December 22, 2025 at 10:23 PM
I agree.

What we do not agree on is your take that the Dems protected fascists.
December 22, 2025 at 6:37 PM
How did the Dem government 'do everything in their power to protect Trump and the insurrectionists'?

Can you substantiate that opinion?
December 22, 2025 at 6:36 PM
What I do not see as a valid argument in view of what Trump has done is your: "We do not know what Harris would have done, it might have been just as bad."

That is an argument that you cannot substantiate. It is conjecture that you use to justify the un-justifiable.
December 20, 2025 at 11:06 PM
You misunderstand me - I do not dispute a critival view of the ruling parties.

What I dispute is your take that there is no difference between them and that enabling Trump was inconsequential.

I do not find any of your arguments justification enough for that.
December 20, 2025 at 9:25 PM
I find that if it comes up to acknowledging their responsibilities, MAGAs and non-voting Dems are much alike.

The worst thing is they deny the suffering of the victims and the second worst thing is they haven't learned anything and will continue to make the same mistakes all over again.
December 20, 2025 at 1:37 PM
While Harris would not have been perfect, she wouldn't have tried to turn the US into a dictatorship.

Cognitive dissonance is a powerful force, I know.

In the end, this is a matter of character. Either you own up to your mistake or you double down by that ridiculous equation Harris = Trump.
December 20, 2025 at 1:37 PM
So Harris would have cancelled USAID, abandoned the NATO allies and Ukraine, put out the red carpet for Putin, destroyed the US economy and threatened other economies with tariffs? And abused underage girls? Highly unlikely.

That is a whole different ballgame.
December 18, 2025 at 11:34 PM
If you were familiar with scientific methods or arguments, you would know that examples can never prove a point.

By the way - the cancelling of the concert was due to the location that was considered unsuitable to hold the large masses of visitors.

There was no mention of 'migrant violence'.
December 18, 2025 at 11:28 PM
Trump's utter stupidity and pedophilia made him the perfect target for blackmail - be it Putin or Epstein.

Yet I am under the strong impression that apart from that Trump also adores Putin and wants his friendship. He is obsessed with powerful and cruel leaders.
December 18, 2025 at 11:21 PM
Trump is the product of a society where wealth (or pretended wealth) causes admiration nand respect in spite of obvious character defaults and utter stupidity.

But to pretend the last 11 months would have as much adverse impact on the US and the world if Harris had won is untenable.
December 18, 2025 at 11:20 PM
That is ignoring a lot of suffering Trump caused (not the least by abolishing USAID), by his stupid tariffs, by all the hatred against immigrants he fostered and by his support for Putin.

Your standard of evaluation seems to be very abstract and far removed form everyday life.
December 18, 2025 at 3:00 PM
I would include mental deficiencies within human traits; 'human' not meant in an exculpatory way.

A malignant narcissist is a perfect victim for manipulation, as long as you can offer him money/power and/or the admiration of a strong man he admires.
December 18, 2025 at 2:55 PM
I cannot count the times I held my nose to vote for the lesser evil in my country.

But as long as my vote makes it harder for the AfD to come into power, I'll continue to do so. No question.

Do you really think it made no difference that Trump won instead of Harris? For health, safety, peace?
December 17, 2025 at 6:48 PM
Both parties are controlled by corporate dominion.

But the last 11 months should have made it clear that the negative impact they have on the lives of the poorest is vastly different.

That alone should be motivation enough.
December 17, 2025 at 6:41 PM
Of yourse you should be allowed to vote.

But you also have a responsibility. Not voting in a close race and risking fascism is enabling. No matter what your motives were.

If you think it was worth it, own it. Trump was brought into office by Trump voters and by Dem non-voters.
December 17, 2025 at 6:37 PM
I think you can, as long as elections still happen and the results are not faked.

We have seen this in Poland (though there is still a rough road ahead) and hopefully we'll see this in April in Hungary.
December 17, 2025 at 6:30 PM
Also since offshore wind turbines lowered the property value of one of his golf courses, his hatred knows no bounds.
December 17, 2025 at 6:14 PM
Buckle up for more embarassment and horror.
December 16, 2025 at 10:56 PM
It doesn't matter, does it? Whether he knows what he is doing and is in total control of his actions or whether he is manipulated or whether he is blackmailed.

He is a Russian asset. That is the result of his actions.
December 16, 2025 at 10:37 PM
This post has nothing to do with my answer to your original post, that (intentionally?) made no difference between lawful and lawless governmental behavior.

The fact that ICE (and the Department of 'War')s behavior violates the law is exactly the reason why it can (and must) be opposed.
December 16, 2025 at 10:27 PM
I always doubted that he could be classified as an 'agent' (due to his enormous stupidity).

His actions show that Putin has a hold over him - be it emotionally or by blackmail seems to be unclear.

The Krasnow-story, however, doesn't seem to add up:
