I'm honestly astonished by how many of my otherwise fully intelligent colleagues have convinced themselves that they NEED to be on X. It's awful, it's bad, it's a nazi bar... but they HAVE to be on it. For *reasons*.

I suspect if every EU entity transitioned to Mastodon or similar, many individual governments would follow in pretty short order and it would spur an awful lot of people to do the same.
