TN State Rep. Shaundelle Brooks knows the devastating toll of gun violence. Her son, Akilah DaSilva, was killed in the 2018 Waffle House mass shooting. Since then, Shaundelle has fought to ensure that no one else has to suffer the same grief. Akilah should be here. @natrixdreammom.bsky.social
Akilah, my precious baby boy!
I miss and love you more than words can express. Another BIRTHDAY without your physical presence, yet your light still shines so brightly. I hold your smile, your laugh, and every memory close to my heart. I will carry you with me until we meet again.🩵😢 #LongLiveAkilah!

Tremendously grateful for the dedicated and tireless work of @mainegunsafety.bsky.social when Maine’s elected officials fell short.

Two years ago, 18 Mainers were robbed of their lives when an individual known to be dangerous had access to firearms.

Thoughts, no prayers, to the NRA, which can’t sell enough fear to keep the lights on.

The NRA crying poor while America buries its children is the most on-brand thing imaginable.

Maybe spend less on private jets and more on basic decency?

The gun industry’s worst nightmare just came true: accountability.

Flooding Baltimore’s streets with ghost guns isn’t “freedom”—it’s a direct threat to public safety.

This RECORD-BREAKING verdict against a gun dealer is more than justice. It will save countless lives.
BREAKING NEWS: We just won the largest ever verdict against a gun dealer in American history.

Today’s $62 million verdict will make the city of Baltimore exponentially safer from the scourge of gun violence.

This is the kind of action we need to reduce violent crime in our country.

I’m a proud, life-long Catholic.

God didn’t arm the Minneapolis shooter, politicians did.

Nothing that has been reported about the cause points to religion. It does point to a dangerous individual having easy access to weapons.

Let’s stop hiding behind religion to excuse the preventable.
Today’s shooting wasn’t because Catholic schools hold Mass. It was because a gunman had easy access to a firearm.

But sure, let’s have another “security expert” debate usher training & pew evacuation routes instead of real solutions to address gun violence.

This is nothing more than obfuscation.

Deploying 1,700 armed National Guardsmen into our communities won’t make us safer.

It escalates and endangers, and it diverts resources from meaningful solutions.

Safety comes from strong gun laws and investing in prevention, not from soldiers with rifles in civilian settings.

Thank you President Biden 🙏🏽
The internet has been a heartbreaking place in the past 24 hours.

For all of my days, I will never forget the innate goodness of this man — a public servant of more than 50 years who has given so much to others even while facing the deepest anguish a human could ever know. 🧵
