What does advocacy look like? Sometimes it looks like this. An Emmy nomination, a red carpet, and a story that desperately needed to be told. Honored to stand alongside the incredible team behind “What’s My Life Worth.” #Emmys #HealthCareVoices #NYT

When safe, effective vaccines exist, testing updated versions (e.g., annual flu/COVID shot) by giving some participants a placebo is withholding treatment and thus is unethical. Immunobridging is used instead to evaluate the updated version. 🛟😷 medsky
Why placebos don’t belong in vaccine trials
Volunteers in vaccine trials help drive medical breakthroughs, but they don’t always get the real shot. In early studies, some received a placebo, a harmless injection with no active ingredient,

President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis is a reminder that 1 in 8 men will face this disease. As an oncologist, I hope his story sparks awareness around early detection, PSA screening, and access to care. Thinking of him and his family. #ProstateCancer #MensHealth #Oncology

(The only deaths that I know of from the measles *vaccine*, are in places where it was mixed with the wrong diluent - not a fault of the vaccine at all. Feel free to correct me if you have good data to the contrary.)

I had the great privilege of serving in the EIS Class of 2015, responding to dozens of disease outbreaks and novel health threats.

The program is a crowned jewel of U.S. public health and a model for other countries.

Cutting this program does not, in any way, make our country healthier.

You know Kate Winslet in Contagion? Where she runs into a hot zone, risking her life, so Americans could be safer?

She was an EIS officer. That’s who was just fired at CDC today. EIS officers. And many, many more public servants fighting every day for your health.
