Sidenote: as an Epstein whistleblower, I cannot do justice to just how dizzying, fucked up & unmooring the past few days have been.

I’ll write more about it—but wow is the craven hypocrisy & knowing dishonesty of folks demanding the release of a list that never existed & child porn is repulsive.

This ragebait headline & image has everything. It:

1) centers & enlarges unelected white guy w/ the nazi tattoo

2) Puts NY & TX behind ME

3) Lightens BIPOC skin

4) Assigns opinions they don’t have or share

5) & compares them to the billionaire-funded astroturf Tea Party—whose numbers were tiny!
A base that has long made pragmatic, sober decisions appears increasingly attracted to charismatic outsiders who promise to break from the party’s failures of the last decade. They see their party’s leaders as feckless and inept.

It’s the Democratic Tea Party, with a twist. trib.al/mC5cBDA

Also, Amazon/Ring cancelled an unlaunched partnership with another creepy company. (& prolly spent more 💰pushing this PR story than the total value of the cancelled contract.)

But, to be clear, neither Ring nor Amazon have stopped working with ICE, in any capacity.
Ring is still an incredibly creepy and dangerous company whose aim is to build an inescapable surveillance state.

This is great!

But since Amazon/Ring itself still works with ICE & the partnership with Flock never actually started, does it make a practical difference?

Seems more like an obfuscation & more CYA PR from Amazon, with the goal of confusing folks so they’ll continue to use & buy Ring cameras?!?

I really believe if more people saw these old emails between Ring and the LAPD, everyone would have a better understanding of the shady tactics that allow surveillance companies to grow fast by turning cops into salespeople.
How about this email to an officer from a Ring employee which really does says it all: The police officer had "10 uses of the discount code" and was now eligible for free reward "for all your hard work" selling devices for a private company.
