That game was delightful. But too short. But also not too short because I need to keep my other job, too.

I’m not even much of a poetry reader and I marvel at the incisiveness and erudition of Elisa Gabbert’s post mortem on BEST AMERICAN POETRY, which recently ended its 40 year run (gift link)

Hm, is “charge into fire” really the phrase we want here?

I'd forgotten about this photo I took on a summer walk and how it looked like Dr Brabo from the sticker was the same person who left behind their hat

Right leaning wave painting in violets and green, a ship lit up sits on the horizon Left leaning wave with a merry skeleton enjoying the swell. The two paintings meet to for a whole.

Palais des Beaux Arts in Lille: Thought this was a contemporary critique of selfie culture but it's a 16th century monument to René of Chalon, Prince of Orange of course. Silly me.
Life-size limestone statue of putrefied corpse. The head stares upward at a small phone-sized object (actually a human heart) held aloft in the left hand. Close up of the same sculpture showing the head, arm and heart in more detail

A very inspirational recipe note
TEXT: Notes
For an even crispier crust, double the oil.
450 grams is about 3.75 cups
If dough seems dry and not forming ball in mixer add another tablespoon or two of water
Remember, every pizza can be a personal pizza if you try hard and believe in yourself! (this final note is highlighted in the image)

It's too perfect that a long-defunct small press infamous for robbing its authors (me among them) also seems to have failed to file copyrights which now prevents me from claiming the AI settlement even though the book was part of the stolen database. Adding insult to injury even from the grave!

Pretty excited (and more than a little surprised) to have a piece in any Best American anything, let alone Sciene & Nature Writing

Almost a full of year of explaining the clock to my dog when she begs too early for dinner, yet she's no better at telling time than she was last November. Maybe it's a breed trait?

A thing I do sometimes when driving around Philly is if someone honks at me I wave and smile like they‘re an old friend saying hi
