...and probably further worsened mental associations with loud/crowded environments that were bad to start with. So I basically haven't been able to track new pop developments because doing so feels, more than ever, like a landmine-ridden path through the Valley of Misophonia

I love this! My gender is essentially "not as important to me as my sensory issues" (and my (a)sexuality is basically indistinguishable from them...) which is why I married in a circle skirt and corset. I had no gender feelings about this, only the joy of visual and pressure stim

My ideal aesthetic would be to have at least one room that looks like it could be a game show set, but with sound-absorbing soft carpet instead of sound-reflecting hard flooring. Something like this:

I have no doubt that there's some fabulously innovative things out there in hyperpop and goodness knows how many subcultures; I'll never know because, quite simply, they're not for me in the most viscerally physical sense, but are tickets for a bullet train into the Valley of Misophonia

When I'm reticent to listen to some of those artists it's out of anxiety of stumbling into the Valley of Misophonia! (Which is why I have only listened to the odd track from Brat even as I've made numerous memetic references to it, including some based on said misophonia...)
