The NWSL quietly updated its public-facing extreme heat policy since the Aug 16 delay in KC. The league says the edits aligned the external doc with a change that was implemented internally in 2023; the NWSLPA says it was not aware of the removal of a key clause. My report for the Guardian‬:

This is a dark stain on football, and will always be remembered as such.
That UEFA nor FIFA did or said anything about the hundreds killed and complete anhialation of football in that region is deplorable.

On Wednesday, I won 2nd place in the 2024 AIPS Sport Media Awards Best Column for my CBC Sports piece on the hijab ban in France ahead of Olympics.
Gala took place in Rabat, Morocco. Trophies for this category were presented by Madame Nawal El Moutakawel, a legend, and a hero of mine. Alhumdullilah.
