Hey there! Happy to have you scrolling through my posts. I'm a game designer working independent on the East Coast to try and develop my skills and make some projects worth playing! This account will probably just be a devlog for my progress on projects.

Devlog - 1

Right, now that I've gotten the procrastination out of the way, this post marks the start of my devlog for my newest game. Hopfully I'll be able to put in weekly updates on my progress and let people see what I'm working on!

Happy holidays! This last month has been great for wrapping up the last of the mechanics. I've finished the game end system as well as the patience system. Honestly it's been really great seeing how easy it is to add these on. My system has gotten so modular change is easy!

Agh, the last few days were hectic for me, I can't believe I put this off till Today. But, the patience system is done! There are some more things, mostly around the portraits for the characters and how those are animated but from here I'm going to focus on the writing. Happy Thanksgiving!

So guess who's computer went kaput and lost her a day of work. It's fine but I had to go back and redo some annoying work for the end of demo content. I also decided to do some job apps before that so I had even less time to work on the patience system! But, I got something done anyway.

A non Noir Wingman post!

So my apartment has a public board downstairs and it's mostly for posting events, stuff you're giving away, etc. But someone's been posting newspaper games that the whole apartment has been working to solve. This inspired me and this week I handmade a public chessboard!

Jeez it's Wednesday already? The last two days were weirdly busy for me. Well there's not a ton to say today, I finished the code for the end game text and usually that would tie into the next level but for now it's just going to lead to a demo end page that tells you how you did.

November post and October wrap up! Generally October was sadly an incredibly slow month. I lost a lot of the motivation I had the last few months and mostly made pretty surface level changes to the code architecture and some minor debugging. Though I did complete a few critical tasks.

Ugh, I really meant to get more done this week, but in between some hardwear issues, softwear issues, and a lack of motivation, it's been so hard to get out more than a few lines. Putting in these weekly posts have been great for getting me to do at least Something but this week not enough.

Do you ever do work that feels petty? So much stuff I did this week was minimal progress for the sake of nicer code and prettier animations. I may have crushed a few bugs before they turned ugly and outlined the architecture for the level end events but it was mostly small stuff this week.

It's spooky month! As before this will be a recap of lasts months work alongside the plan for this coming month. Last month was spent mainly rewriting some of the core codebase to both include immediate features and reinforce it for further expansion. I've included a video on our state below!

So technically there is one last week of September so we'll do the wrap up next month. I finalized all the new mechanics for the dialogue system and squashed a ton of bugs. There may be one or two small things to adjust in the future but for now I'm going to be pivoting towards critical stuff.

I've been absurdly busy this week. I'll try to make more time for my projects in the future. There isn't a ton to report on, a lot of the work right now is two steps forwards one step back as I realize that something in the code base isn't quite as expandable as I thought it was.

Ah, Quite late to this one. I'm still just plodding away at the systems programming. I've gotten the broad strokes out for all the additions I want made, character positioning, name appearance, etc etc but I've hit a nasty bug that I spent an hour or two working out during my last session.

Devlog 9/2

Alright I mentioned this last week but I was traveling all this week visiting family so sadly there isn't anything to report other than to reiterate that I'll be focusing on expanding the dialogue system and kicking out a prototype!

New month! New organization system! We're changing to month/week from here on out. But it's time for another recap! This week I worked on expanding the dialogue, talking with our writer has brought to attention several missing features like portrait position and speaker name.

Okay so housekeeping, next month I'm just going to pivot towards month/week, I feel like it'll make more sense and won't look like a release log. As for my work this week, I continued expanding the dialogue system to have an initial conversation when the player first jumps into a level.

Worth remembering most players deep down have “gamer” tendencies, even the people who hate the term
'Silksong' was never in dev hell, they just used the time for the quality.

“It was always progressing. It’s just the case that we’re a small team, and games take a lot of time. There wasn’t any big controversial moment behind it.”

Devlog 3.2

Alright, I've pivoted back into programming for the first prototype. I worked on some of the general systems code and the dossier this week! Video below. As I've gotten closer though I realize I really *Really* need to start getting some kind of mock up script for this first prototype.

Coming off of the crazy sprint that was the GMTK Jam I decided to take things slower this week. I've started work on the subject portfolio display but mostly I watched some more research material in Sunset Boulevard which has been great for revitalizing my aesthetic interest in this.

Devlog 3.0

Month three!! I'm realizing now that breaking up my devlog by numbers like that may make it look like that's the build version which, I wish I could be in 3.0 in 3 months. The GMTK Jam is finished, and as per every month this will be a bigger recap post which you can read bellow.

Devlog 2.5

Okay so the bone works for the dialogue system have been complete! There's still a lot of stuff that I want to add and refine but for now I should pivot towards the other parts of the game to get a full prototype up and running. More detail on progress and plans below!

Devlog 2.4

Alright, this one will be short because, due to some work and personal emergencies, I was not able to work on the project this last week. Same plan still stands, working on the writing, finishing the core codebase, getting a prototype up and running. Luckily everything is fine now.

Devlog 2.3

Gosh the last devlog was rushed. I'm mostly making these to hold myself accountable but I'd also like to have at least a little quality. I put down the wrong number in the title but more than that realized that bluesky doesn't support custom gifs outside previews? So here's what I wanted

Devlog 1.2

So now that I've properly started coding and implementing the data structures I've designed I actually have something to show! Yea, it isn't much. It's really just a mock up of the first handoff of data that allows you to select a conversation and be shown the prompts you can use.
