Our latest study confirms that Martynia annua (an invasive species) produces physiologically dormant seeds; its woody endocarp does not prevent water uptake, but delays germination, and seeds remain viable for over a year, fueling their invasive potential.

Here, we discussed 'interpopulation variations in seed germination, suggesting plants may have microclimate-based regeneration strategies, highlighting the need to consider these variations in seed traits for effective restoration.
