Hello! I like to explore different topics in tech, engineering, macroeconomics, and natural sciences. I'm trying to publicly chronicle my learning (and building) journies here so I can be held accountable when I get lazy.
Spoke with a brilliant colleague yesterday. I am now convinced more than ever before that in an era where attention spans are fried, discipline is the single biggest predictor of success. Need to get my act together. Will get back to posting about learning & building.

Each day I develop a growing respect for conservatives and liberals. Not left or rightists; just old school libs & cons who could see each other as friends/neighbours and didn't wish for firing squads upon everyone who disagreed with them on some tax or zoning policy. Liberal democracy is awesome!

Deeply concerned these days that not enough younger folks are picking natural sciences as a major (or career). Esp worried that as boomers and older Gen Xers start to retire, we will lose a lot of obscure yet valuable know-how forever. Don't know if I'm overreacting. #sciencesky #chemsky #biosky

I wish someone would sing a lullaby to me at night and reassure me that the dollar milkshake theory under my bed isn't real

Sex is great but have you ever built a high accuracy ML model on very-high dimensional data using nothing more than a potato PC? The preprocessing alone will open up all your chakras.

Part of me is very worried that the RTX5070's price will win over potential B580 buyers, and Intel will just kill off its GPU segment due to shareholders' demands. We desperately need a 3rd player in the GPU space, damn it!

Finishing up my first Android game built on Godot. Hopefully, I'll be able to list it on the Play store this weekend. 2025 off to a good start I think.

Holy smokes Godot is way better than I had imagined. Having only used Unity a couple of years back, it feels like a dream to be using Godot for 2D dev. Can't pinpoint to why but I just like it!

Pat Gelsinger officially out. IMO they're likely gonna strip Intel for parts to score quick balancesheet victories much like GE under Welch. Really *really* hope I'm proven wrong. PE scrap dealers will never realize the value of all that technical know-how. #Intel #EconSky #FinanceSky #Markets

This week's learning is focused on intermediate #PowerAutomate and I have to admit I'm in love with the UI. Gonna try to recreate small parts of this in a personal project.

Scientists: If you could outsource all tasks of the format:"apply actions x,y,z to inputs a,b and adjust parameters 1,2,3 by j,k,l % across 50 iterations" to a firm that does trial-and-error as a service, would this accelerate pace of scientific research or no? #molbiol #evolbiol #physics #chemsky

Does everyone who builds software go through a phase where they question why they can't do all their front-end development on a game engine?
