Full stack dev (TS, Svelte) mostly playing TTRPGs.
Whether you want to confront it or not, the reality is that the Supreme Court is no longer a check or a balance. They are permitted to accept bribes, they have an unlimited tenure, they can overrule most other courts.

"Equal Justice Under Law" may be the court motto but the reality is the opposite.

Labour is the perfect example of bad compromises are liked by no one.

They can not compete with Reform on hate because Starmer respects the rule of law so Labour can never go far enough to satisfy that demographic. I don't understand why they continue to fail in that arena instead of ignoring it.

Younger folks have a lot less hope of getting what they need from the economy so it's depressing to think/talk about.

I think a lot about my daughter (who's of the last year or so of Gen Z) and how helping her get started as an adult is going to take a lot more from me than my parents needed for me

Ideally, violence has no place in civilised politics.

Unfortunately, violence is already replacing "civilised" politics.

Punch a nazi before you find yourself alone in a crowd of them.

The political right has rarely restrained itself from violence. Trump is using "law" enforcement to actively, illegally, and violently remove people from society when they are in a demographic that is likely to vote against him.
