I'm late to this essay too. I'm getting tired of the assumption that this tech can be separated from the companies producing it and all the harms that go into its design/implementation. If you could, it would be a different tech entirely rather than simply an "ethical" parallel of what we have now

yeah same. disappointing how much they've been doubling down on it. (do they still not have a settings page? I fled to neovim months ago because of the ai)
