Living in France since 2003. Canadian MSM for my help in perpetuating the Canadian ww1 story.
Not a fan of Boris the 🤡, or Napoléon Bonespurs.
Did you get to visit Saint Jacques ?
Amazing, doesn't do it justice.

I didn't come back from Bénifontaine empty handed. The shop was open. 😁

I really liked the rubber bar mat and the smoky Winter Ale is a limited brew.

The woody taste is not too pronounced but I've had to take my time drinking it. Very smooth, but for sipping, not quaffing 😁

Attending the annual Voeux du Maire at Bénifontaine.

One of the few that offers beer as well as wine to accompany the sandwiches. Can't imagine why. Perhaps it's the brewery opposite 🍻😁😁

The tankard to go with Peak Beers Scotch Ale cost me dear, but, non, je ne regrette rien 😍🍺

The Elfique beers are also pretty good.

Too much choice. Beers and history, what's not to like about Liège and the Ardennes?

Tripick is excellent. I visited their café, (sort of) opposite the Liège railway station in August. The quadruple went really well with their version of boulet liègeois.

The station is worth seeing in its own right .

Lego is all done. Removed most of my Discworld pieces to make room.

Was time for a change anyway.

In 1245 ND de Paris was finished, well, sort of 😊

Had to come out. It's CT day.

So thankful the guy turned up.
I was his first rdv and before he'd even started he'd already had 3 cancellations.

Getting here was a pain and getting home going to be worse.

The joy of living over the hills and in the valley when it snows.

As I move into the XIII century I've reached the pack with the rose windows.

It's a shame that all this detail is going to be lost when you put the roof on.

But here I am following in the constructors footsteps.

Well that was close. The cutting board I bought as a base is indeed just the right size.

The foundations of the piece are not large pieces but dozens of interlocking smaller plates. I've not been frightened to move it around.

Anyway it's sunny, need to get out for a walk and fresh air 😊
January 4, 2026 at 11:09 AM
I got stuck at one point for a good 45 minutes. The piece just wasn't going to fit. Went back over the instructions numerous times. All looked good except that : it didn't fit.

Finally spotted my error. Very subtle in the booklet, though clear, I'd misplaced a piece by one link.

All good.

This has become addictive. Just as much fun as building a tank, but without the worry of having to paint it.
January 4, 2026 at 11:09 AM
I also like the fact that there is a timeline following the construction. Anyway that's three bags of bricks done. My fingers hurt 🤣 Time for wine - it's a French construction site 🍷😉

Doesn't take long to understand why this Lego build is an 18+
January 3, 2026 at 4:08 PM
Notre Dame has been started. Great kit. Instructions are very clear (piece by piece in pictures) but you need to concentrate on what goes where.

The La Fière Beers are from the same brewery that makes the Page 24 beers.

The winter edition is nicely chocolate, not too strong (I really wasn't fussed on the Chromatique one - too powerful). Rounded and smooth.

Only in moderation of course. Let's go for, days with an -i- in them 😁.

Look who got Lego for Christmas 😊

These are copies of his jacket and helmet, above the tomb.

Edward the Black Prince.

Having seen John the Blind's tomb in Luxembourg we've almost come full circle to Edward.

Crazy to think that the items displayed in the crypt were worn by him, just up the road from where I live.

Everything takes time.

And a really good tip. Be aware of your surroundings. Take photos of buildings, rust, roads.

I'm lucky I live here so it's easy to find a muddy lane with track marks. Or old walls to look at 😊

Just received my Christmas 'cabas' from the village Maire. Biscuits, terrines, bottle of red and chocolates.
