Are you referring to battery only installations? (Ie, no PV)?

200A from grid charging, somewhat more from PV. Because the system is constrained by 3.68kW G98 a large battery is needed to ensure no curtailment. I don’t think the owner needs to grid charge often during the summer months.

Where do you get the figure of 45kW from? The 200A is on the ~50v DC side, not the AC side.
December 22, 2025 at 9:48 PM
Yes, large PV system and DC charge controllers.

Definitely no added zeros. 100kWh. The owner uses some additional charging systems to push around 200A into the battery.

Domestic systems can be DC coupled to a battery. I know of one domestic system which is G98 with a 100kWh battery and the owner simply exports 3.6kW continuously during summer. Can commercial scale systems be DC coupled and operate in a similar manner? Does the kit exist at this scale?

Yeah, that first claim is nuts. We are all electric cooking and only managed to fully drain our (at the time) 15kWh usable house battery by 23:00

The truth is that if a gas boiler engineer or heat pump installer says that heat pumps don’t work in xyz property then you need to find someone else. Start by finding a Heat Geek certified installer near you.

Another insight from the data is that the age of the property and the amount of insulation makes very little difference to the performance of the heat pump

Good video. Nice to see your STO broadly align with real data. For reference, I sold my 5x Growatt ML33RTA 3.3kWh batteries on ebay recently as £600 each. First installed April 2022, the second Nov 2022 and the last three December 2023. Think they were about £1000 each when purchased.

I know I keep banging on about this, but can't you find some slightly used storage heaters locally and swap those electric radiators out for them? Charging up the storage heaters would be so much cheaper on the IOG cheap slot that you'd be quids in almost straight away.

Yes, I think this is correct. But really, Octopus want the car plugged in throughout the day if it’s at home. I think if Octopus can buy some “increase demand” system notices during the day and then sell you ‘leccy at 7p it’s more profitable for them.

Are you that incurious you can’t Google “lithium ion battery recycling”?

This was the stand out slide for me. It puts the bed the "you must have a well insulated house" myth.

Other brands are available. Tesla isn't the only game in town.
We have an I-PACE and and e-Golf. Both brilliant in their own way.
