“You’re banned, you can’t chant that, you’re nicked for holding a sign, you’re kids are poorer, you’re colder, you have to have an ID card and the racists have legitimate concerns in our island of strangers… now vote for us or Farage wins.”

I did click. My point was that while Joplin popularised it, the sentiment she expressed was written by Kristofferson.

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

The UAE is an authoritarian autocracy, a petro-state with no income tax for citizens, to bribe them for the lack of democratic voice or free speech

It is 85% migrant, a segregated society with a ban on integration in principle and practice, few rights, equal opportunities, nor voice for incomers

A good photo by any standards, but given the equipment of the day a sensational one. Surrey allrounder Alan Peach loses his middle stump to Warwickshire's Harry Howell in the drawn Championship match at The Oval, June 16th 1927

Astonishing how far the stump has travelled but the ball hasn’t!

Not saying they look *exactly* alike but would definitely cast Robert Jenrick (shadow justice secretary) in biopic of Paul Reczeh (Gestapo agent, all-round sociopath)

By extension from league tables there should also be P(layed), F(or), A(gainst).

And in reverse, has anyone ever seen S(ociety) as a standalone?

Let us not forget the journalists killed in the last two years in Gaza. International Federation of Journalists says Israel has "controlled the narrative" throughout and demands that it "lift its media ban and grant foreign reporters independent access to Gaza".

My latest cartoon for @newscientist.com
p.s. My new book of science cartoons 'Physics for Cats' is out this week. Details at www.tomgauld.com
Panel 1
A figure stands at a lectern
"This image illustrates my theory that, presented with a sufficient quantity of intricate formulae, overcomplicated diagrams and impenetrable acronyms, an audience will agree with almost anything."
The screen is completely packed with such things

Panel 2,3,4,5.
Four audience members say enthusiastically: "My thoughts exactly!", "Hear, hear!", "I quite agree!" and "Excellent point!"

What do Putin, Farage and Badenoch all have in common?

They all want the U.K. to LEAVE the ECHR.

Trump hates to be the object of humor. He understands that humor can be a more powerful antidote to tyranny than any other form of criticism.

I'm sure he'd hate it if you shared this cartoon. [Cartoon by Jon Adams/The New Yorker]

Presumably Nigel Farage wants the UK to join Russia and Belarus as the only European countries outside the ECHR because he admires Putin so much. I guess Kemi Badenoch wants to leave only because Farage has already promised to do it.

“The second anyone suggests that a man whose entire political career has been devoted to attacking migrants and making discriminatory comments about non-white people, might be a racist, all hell breaks loose”

Enough. Farage is a racist menace. We must say so.

Nigel Farage Is a Racist

The media is refusing to state the most bleedingly obvious facts about a man whose entire career has been devoted to pursuing a racist political agenda

Nigel Farage is a racist. That is my honestly held opinion based on absolutely everything he has said and done since entering politics in the late nineties.

"For the next 15 years, give us a subsidy from public money, and remove the disincentive for us to stop dumping raw sewage, so our creditors are rescued from the consequences of their own greed" is not, I have to say, the world's most appealing pitch. www.theguardian.com/business/202...
