Thessaloniki view from where we’re staying
A view at night high above the coastal downtown of Thessaloniki, all twinkling lights and purple spire, with the promenade of the southern part of the city far in the distance, past a lot of sea.

Portland, check out Alex Ross Perry’s new film, which celebrates the history of the video store through movie and tv clips, on October 18th. For citizens of a city blessed to still have such a rare business, this is a must-see.

We’re excited to screening Alex Ross Perry's VIDEOHEAVEN in the Miniplex on Saturday, October 18 at 11:30AM, 3:00PM, & 6:30PM! Socio-cultural hub, consumer mecca, and source of existential dread; the video rental store forever changed the way we interact with movies.

We feel quite honored to be featured by SPIN in this article by local film critic David Harris! We believe in our mission to help bring the Portland community a true #FilmOnFilm experience, and entertain, inspire, educate and connect our community through the art of film. Thank you all!
Portland’s Hollywood Theatre Is a Mecca for Movie Lovers

This article has a lot more important problems so I feel stupid saying this…but umm…the Mercury wrote and published the first major article about the DSA councilors back in June. Of course it isn’t the local reporting linked or mentioned here.

Read this thread from a great Portland reporter! The New York Times running this story today is absolutely calculated. It has been positioning Portland for years as a progressive villain. Also: why send a reporter from the Bay when the NYT has at least two reporters who actually live in Portland.

Waking up to some careless parachute journalism from the NYT. Really frustrating that @kellen.bsky.social chooses to write that "some top filers" have left Portland due to the Preschool for All tax but neglects to mention that the number of overall filers went up by many thousands in that period.+

Irresponsible reporting. "Let's ask these rural, blatantly conservative residents, all over the age of 55 and some living hundreds of miles from Portland, what they think!"

While some Oregonians seethe over President Trump's announced deployment of the National Guard in Portland, others believe the city needs it. They say homelessness and crime has worn the bloom off the Rose City, and federal intervention is needed.
‘Now we’re pig slop:’ Portland troop deployment sparks mixed reactions across Oregon
