I think I remember this one. Wasn’t there a big Bertie Bassett type creature in it? At least that’s what 9 year old me remembered of it

I have never been able to work out which way is East or West, without saying “never eat Shredded Wheat”. (But North and South are intuitive to me)

That does sound like most of the GPs I’ve ever been to. “Not sure what it is but if it’s not better in a few weeks, make another appointment”

If you think toddlers should be forced to cycle in the road then it’s pretty safe to ignore your opinions in general.

But the law is clearly wrong and people ignore it because it is illegal for children of any age to cycle on the pavement. Which is stupid

Bowler hats were originally a working class item of headwear. A protective item for gamekeepers who didn’t want to get bashed by tree branches

I agree, but pretty much everything is tribalistic. Sport, politics, culture

To be fair to religion, we’ve no idea whether those battles would have happened anyway. It’s likely most would have just picked a different thing to fight about

The AI bubble bursting will be like when the dot-com bubble burst. There’s still loads and loads of dot-coms afterwards and they are even larger than the ones before

The first 5 minutes of Bad Guys is one of the best musical openings of a film ever

The union is only there to protect the union. They will only defend your rights as far as is good for the union. No union would ever harm itself for the benefit of a member

I like how three of the horsepowers are roughly the same, and then one is suddenly an order of magnitude bigger

I’m starting to suspect that in 100 years time it’ll turn out that everyone is autistic and “normal” people are just those who’ve been most aggressively hiding it, or who are closeted about it

I played for the city under x Rugby team and was always one of the bigger boys, but we didn’t play often enough that I knew all the other players. A new boy came to have a go, but no one told me he was new. I tackled him properly in training and dislocated his knee. Still feel bad about it

I remember at primary school we had do some cutting out felt and glueing it, so I made a Count Duckula.

It’s the one thing from my childhood I wish I still had. I did a really good job of that. And it would be quite retro cool now

I’m reading Pratchett chronologically as well, but started from the beginning as I couldn’t exactly remember which ones I’d read before. I’m just finishing Mort now. I’m slightly slowed by the fact that I feel I have to buy them in order from charity shops. Makes it feel like Fate has a say in it

Gin is just middle-class vodka for people who don’t like to admit they have a drinking problem (and I say that as a gin-drinker)
