Optimist: the cup is half full

Pessimist: the cup is half empty

Descartes: and what if the cup is a figment of your imagination? How can you infer with certainty that there is a cup in the first place? You can't.
The cup doesn't exist, or does it? We'll never know.
Optimist: The cup is half full.
Pessimist: The cup is half empty.
Herodotus: The Scythians have a tradition in which when a cup becomes half full the whole tribe migrates to the mountains and there is a massive slaughter of chickens.
Optimist: The cup is half full.
Pessimist: The cup is half empty.
Medievalist: They had cups in the Middle Ages, you know.

I’ve finally begun reading Parable of the Sower, by Octavia E. Butler.

The novel starts in a dystopian 2024 — so I thought it apt to start it now.

I can already see why Butler is a beloved writer: her prose is smooth but drenched in emotional potency and subtle insights.

Excited to continue.

#NowReading this sapphic romance by UK based Cameroonian author Tedji Xaviere.

Two chapters in, and my heart is already shattered.

I've read some pretty intense books this year, and I want to end on a fluffier note.

Researching historical facts for my writing is tedious.

I wish I knew everything.

Question for #writers; do you establish every character before developing a story, or do your characters reveal themselves as you go?

Who has done a starter pack for African romance/fantasy authors?
Do they exist on this platform, or should I find my way out???
