"both the superior and subordinate are heavily policed - one by each other, the other by their superiors, and membership in the superior population is defined by violence against the subordinate population and rejection of those who fail to do violence"

Now normally I'm quite sympathetic if I hear someone dies or is dying without a fulfilled goal. That's like, one of my biggest fears - dying with unfulfilled goals.

But the Dilbert guy was so completely arrogant and convinced that he was superior to everyone and bigoted that I can't summon it now.

I honestly think that the whole "who would win" and Ideology of Wikis have done more damage for people's appreciation of stories than almost any other source just because so many ostensible 'fans' get locked into these dumb struggles of trying to prove a reality instead of...talking about the story

White moderate: on wednesday me and 30 other people around the country are gonna smear fake blood on our hands!

Also white moderate, looking at a protest that took a year to organize and support: well this is sheer chaos, someone call the cops

These absurdly useless LARPs and harmlessly fun lil pranks, serve a vital purpose for the white moderate: it allows them to perceive any form of real protest as a riot or some kind of marxist plot.

The more absurdly useless a white moderate's caricature of a protest is, the more violent and out of control they'll see any actual protest, and the more easily they'll call the cops on it.

This is intentional. The white moderate can then look at any *real* protest, one that's not uselessly symbolic and which does require actual organizing, and reluctantly agree it's gone too far and needs to be policed.

It's always done in such a purely symbolic, useless, brief manner that it doesn't even make any sense for it to require mutual aid of any kind.

It's always a form of protest that doesn't require actually talking to other people irl.
