I think this is something a lot of people experienced in 2020, when political activism was at a high. I personally was so overwhelmed with all the movements and information that I ended up picking fights with family members over politics that I regret. #312

I think that is a great strategy. However, I do think it is possible to have the opposite effect from sharing personal details, and that there is a thin line here for success, #312

I do think social media has had a huge impact on us. I especially have noticed this when comparing myself and my views with my parents and others in their generation. It makes me wonder how I would think differently if I was not exposed to social media since birth. #312

It does make me want to stay away from certain sources, but honestly, I'm only thrown by those that have a different view than I do, and I think this is the case for most people. It's a lot harder to recognize a source having a bias if you agree with it. #312

I think it's important to make an effort to 1. provide factual and unbiased media as content creators on social media, and 2. get news from more sources than social media, even if it isn't as interesting. It is so important and I think we really need to place an individual emphasis on this. #312

I think that website advertising use will go down with the onset of AI, as less people are visiting websites now when looking for information, as they can just ask an AI program instead. #UWJ201 #312

I think it will, especially because of how people seem to have increasing empathy towards elderly people. I was also surprised at how frequently elderly people are depicted this way, as I personally don't view that demographic in that way. #312

I definitely think it is important for children to be aware, but I was also shocked by those numbers, and think we should be shielding children in some way. Over-exposure can desensitize them to violence, which could result in them growing up to be violent, so I do think this is an issue. #312

I felt the same! I feel like that article had a good combination of "traditional" journalism and ones that I wouldn't have immediately picked out, so it was a really interesting read! #UWJ201 #312

I think this is a really interesting question, and I wonder if it may be because of the societal norms in which they were raised in, compared to younger generations. More study into this might also find a similar pattern as norms change between generations. #UWJ201 #312

Me too! I knew that these companies were huge, but I didn't realize how much of the media industry they own, and how smaller companies don't seem to last unless bought out by one of them, which I think is both sad and concerning for the diversity of the media we consume. #UWJ201 #312

I think that if/when media outlets do this, it would go against the principles of media, as it is meant to be unbiased and tell facts, and is not the role of the media. #UWJ201 #312

I think this is a really interesting point, especially as an environmental science major. Overconsumption is a huge issue, and personalized ads in media are a big driver of it. Unfortunately, I feel that it is a habit that will be hard to reverse. #UWJ201 #312

Great question. I feel like this could be considered a very basic question, but I also think it is really difficult to answer. Breaking out of filter bubbles is definitely easier said than done, and I think this is something that everyone should think about individually. #UWJ201 #312

I don't think Donald Trump's recent election has illustrated this concept yet. But I do wonder too about future elections, now that Trump has ben able to partner with some media to his benefit and to allow him to "get away" with some of those "bad actions". #UWJ201 #312

I totally agree with this. It feels not only hypocritical, but inappropriate for a social media platform to remove a feature like this that has made it easier to find factual information. #UWJ201 #312
