…Then we had a global pandemic. And I didn’t really need a car so much anymore, since I wasn’t working. The plan had sort of been to get an EV and kit the house out with residential solar at the same time. Life got in the way.

I see that land use is the next section. I note that he’s already commented on ethanol, which has always seemed pretty sketchy to me. I have less immediate feeling of need for residential solar since I never got an EV. I had an appointment to go to a different state to look at a Hyundai Kona EV…

I understand that he thinks it should be done at scale rather than individually. But I’m still intrigued about the idea that it could be both. The fact that I get frequent power outages that don’t always get fixed quickly might feed into that. I’ve watched a little more. I’ll definitely finish it…

...4) a case that I'm not sure I buy yet but am willing to be convinced about (against personal solar use, which is something I've always been vaguely interested in and have thought might be the norm in the future), and 5) foreshadowing about some potentially spicy takes.

Got through the first half hour. A mixture of 1) stuff that makes complete sense, 2) milder-than-it-needed-to-be criticisms of people who deserve criticism, 3) an interesting description of solar farms as if they are really sort of farms (which harvest solar energy)...

She fell out with her own mother, who didn’t appreciate the details about ancestors who weren’t white. Or that the Englishman wasn’t nobility but rather somebody who got a little stabby with a pitchfork.

…My grandmother, who was obsessed with the genealogy, was so angry because she said you had to go through the Mormons. Who had great records. Except for the branches that were were Black or Native American. And they apparently posthumously baptized somebody. Which also really irked her…

Then again, honesty has never been Tom's strong suit. He kept lying about being a Harvard Professor so often that Harvard threatened him with action if he didn't stop misrepresenting himself as Harvard faculty.
