Second half of our Oregon voyage. Now we have arrived with family, so family shenanigans are next.

I’m on holiday visiting my wife’s family and I decided to chronicle our trip via sketchbook!

My mom likes to dress up/style/move her Common Hobb plush every day ala elf on the shelf, and it’s both hilarious and adorable. 😆

Also this is no shade on Joe, who got his bag back in the Xbox Live Arcade days of yore. Maybe it's another case where the effect was more pronounced on console, etc.

Should rename it to Joe Man's Sky and see what happens.
November 18, 2025 at 5:11 PM
Looking at Steam Charts it doesn't look like Joe even had a ~significant~ bump after NMS's release in August 2016.

It might seem obvious that the conversion % is low given Joe Danger is such a different game/genre, but given NMS's ENORMOUS PLAYERBASE I figured it'd be a bigger bump.
November 18, 2025 at 5:01 PM
I was talking to some friends about No Man's Sky being made from the devs of Joe Danger - and then suddenly I got curious, how many of NMS's 10+ MILLION players went and played Hello Games' back catalog?

Steam Reviews: 142.

The 'Ben' one in particular hit by surprise as some friends and I chose to watch this silly killer rat movie we found while looking for something to watch and then got jump-scared by this title card at the end, alongside the very familiar song.
November 16, 2025 at 7:23 AM
One of my favorite things is finding out famous songs were written for shlocky horror movies.

Like what do you mean Michael Jackson did 'Ben' for a killer rat movie? Or that AC/DC did 'Who Made Who' for a movie about killer trucks?

I need more of these for my collection. 😈

We're talking about the best part of the Stanley Parable, yes?

Wrapped up the Night Springs and Lake House DLC before moving on to Control. Wasn’t expecting The Lake House to be so funny.

The FBC trying to pin down a definition for “art” so they can quantify it for research is just too perfect.

I feel I’m very primed to jump into Control now!

On a related note maybe this is why I no longer find it fun to compare loot in these games. I just shrug and go with whatever has a green number next to it.

It's just not fun anymore to pore over this many options! Look, this isn't even all the stats. There's even a SCROLL prompt to see more.

Looking through new Healthcare options today and I realize it's like the nightmare version of comparing Diablo loot, but where every option also hurts you. Just gotta weigh which one hurts the least.

Anyway now I wanna make American Healthcare Diablo.

This adorable little creature followed my wife home last night. Too cold to let her stay outside and she wasn’t chipped so my office has become a temporary kitty hotel.

Cameos/references of past Remedy games take on new meaning when they’re recontextualized as being the characters and worlds that would make telling this “big fish” story possible. It’s a game built on the studio’s legacy and they wear that on their sleeve by injecting them directly into the story.

Rolled credits on Alan Wake 2! So glad I finally played it, every inch of it was filled to the brim with creativity and soul.

Can’t say I’ve ever played a game quite like it, that’s gonna stick with me for a long while.

Cleared a major art milestone for Forbidden Solitaire! All the 1995 narrative segment shots are now complete! 🥳

In the ballpark of ~240 renders/shots in total! There's plenty left to do, but this was a big chunk of the work!

Mine is “Tom Waits, the mad scientist from Mystery Men!”
November 4, 2025 at 6:52 AM
It was certainly an indulgent segment but in the best way possible. There's AAA budget spectacle and then there's watching the creative director of a game do a fully choreographed dance in his in-game metal concert seemingly just because it'd be fun. Psychically transmitted pure joy into my soul.
