Yeah, I think a big part of fascism is that more than any ideological beliefs, it's nicer to members the earlier they join. Only the central figure gets to change views. This is why it was so embarrassing that silicon valley thought they could modify Trumpism by 'convincing' people with 'arguments.'

I got a bottom lift. Now it's a top.

I did: it makes my land smuggling easier.

...and he won't even notice. The dude does not have the attention span to notice what happens to his kids' lives, but one of his billion legal firms will ruin her life for the chance of making him laugh.

My gut instinct is that this is a bug, not a feature. Boring answer but I would try updating and relaunching chrome.

He isn't going to ban pennies, he's just going to tell the mint to stop making pennies. This is actually a sensible choice.

It's the reason the South Korean legislators snuck into the parliament building. Until they issued a conflicting legal order, everybody was just doing their jobs. But for them it successfully ended their coup.

Strongly worded letters don't have any legal meaning. What DOGE is doing is probably a crime, but he doesn't have any real legal obligation to stop it until a judge identifies it as such.

Will is saying the value comes at the point where the judge issues the court order, not the theoretical arrest. Plenty of judges can issue it if they get a case that is appropriate to them.

We could also be saying sea to shining sea, to sea, to sea.

So does the US!

I genuinely think it's very human to assume "If I don't fit in where I'm at, it must be because I'm more normal than my weird neighbors"

Not true.

Yikes! Thanks for the link. I still think his foundation is well-intentioned, but this info is really grim. I hadn't seen numbers like this. (Also--elephant in the room--I have no personal affection for Bill Gates himself, he is terrible)

To correct myself, I don't think his org owns the patents on the crops that it promotes.
January 18, 2025 at 10:12 AM
He didn't patent the seeds that people were using, he patented GMO versions of them. I think he is overly faithful to the market's treatment of intellectual property, but I believe he really is sincerely committed to fighting hunger in Africa.

I hate this talking point. Musk can clearly afford a house, but I want the president to be able to hire people that aren't billionaires. This obsession over small expenses ignores that the most lucrative form of embezzlement is changing policy for personal reasons.

In my low sample size (basically 1 induction stove), the sound only happens at the highest settings and rapid cook.

Oh no! You're dating me behind my back! How could you?

Biden should have done stuff like this, just do absolutely everything they accuse him of, after they accuse him. Either they stop exaggerating, or they back him into replacing the supreme court justices with robot clones.

We should stop trying to empirically find solutions to the trolley problem.
