My biggest gripe is the character’s names: they’re just really bad and not even “so bad it’s good”. It took me out of the experience a little, but didn’t impact my overall opinion of the book.

The art is wonderful and i think both artists, who seem to alternate the pencils between issues, really fit the tone of the writing perfectly. A little dark and a little playful.

I dont LOVE the main villain, but he serves his purpose. The two main characters really do it for me, and i think it’s a really unique pair- a detective and a prostitute. I think it’s a fun dynamic and you can see the characters sort of probing eachother.

Loved it and cant wait for #2

This book absolutely nails atmosphere with the dark, yet eccentric character designs. And has a really beautiful and slightly haunting art style. Feels like JoJo‘s bizarre adventure character designs slapped in a cyberpunk dystopia. HUGE FAN of that.

Where this falls flat for me is the writing. It is a textbook manic Pixie dream girl meets loser alcoholic. The love story has no real reason to take off and the assassin character, while the best part of the book, has no reason to like the main character. Idk didn’t work.

The art reminded me a lot of of
The New Frontier by DC with the 1960’s aesthetic, which is great. Many panels in this book feel like a passion project and it really shows.
