NEW: Arsenal dominated the second half in the win over Aston Villa but control was earned with aggressive pressing and an in-possession tweak in the first half. For @arseblog.com: p1r.es/4snFWcb

Across Arsenal's last four games, the team has held a one-goal lead for almost half the minutes played.

In the equivalent of two games of football, they've conceded just ten shots.

That doesn't sound like a team suffering from too many nerves or struggling to see games out.

Our attacking was so disjointed- Eze none existent, VG was much better with Odegaard on the pitch

We really need Saliba or Gabriel back. We’re so disjointed at the back without them

Football gods are really challenging our claim to depth
Of course Mosquera is injured. Why wouldn't he be? Our injury record is totally ridiculous.

Pretty much a third of the season. Another 66% to go. Step by step
Arsenal have played 19 games so far this season in all competitions. They have won 16, drawn two & lost just one. They have kept 13 clean sheets, failed to score in only one game, netted 42 goals & conceded just seven. And all this despite having between three and seven players out simultaneously.

Foden had so many chances today, if only he could have put them on a plate for himself

You can't say anything about referees without being accused of saltiness, or sour grapes, but Craig Pawson was an embarrassment today.

Completely gave into the crowd (and Sunderland falling over) at every opportunity, with some bizarre decision making along the way. Shocking.

Do Myles + Ethan change that game state for us? Norgaard? I don’t think so. We just defended poorly at the end and got caught.

The obvious issue was that we had to drop deep because because all of our attackers are crocked. This group have given everything recently; one slip was coming eventually.
Entirely fair to think Arteta got it wrong today in those last 10 minutes, but apart from Hincapié - I don’t know who else he could’ve brought on.

We’re a brilliant defensive team and he banked on (gambled on) us being able to see it through. His trusted soldiers were all on the pitch + knackered.

That was fucking annoying. We gifted Sunderland two goals

Ezeeee! What a finish! We really needed that and HE really needed that, because it was tough going for most of that half.

Palace are so compact and shut down central space so quickly, but Eze doesn't have those high-touch instincts as the ten which makes it difficult. Big.

Not overly stressful and picked up 3 points on last season while going top.

Watch the merino haters act like they didn’t see this
Mikel Merino, Performance - Arsenal vs Olympiacos

This was a match that seemed to suit Merino. They played a pretty aggressive man marking system and there was the opportunity for him to use his forward passing.
