Also there's the annoying editing trick where they make the ends and starts of sentences overlap. Hate that. But if they're just reading a Tumblr post at least they can't do the stupid loop thing where the end the video by saying "And that's why,"

I would say that if someone wanted to experience the plot Finnegans Wake but they didn't want to engage with the difficult prose, then they don't really want to read Finnegans Wake. A video game is not so different.

"Purely decorative elements bring no benefit to a fighting game" is a very out of touch thing to say, and it's made especially weird coming right after an answer in which he praises the work that RGG have done on the stages.

That's not to say these features are in the game because they'll inspire viral clips. I have no idea what went on behind the scenes. But it's very easy to imagine some other developer deciding that their game needs stuff like that so it will go viral and sell more.

To single out Kirby Air Riders, the two main factors that appear to be contributing to its shareability are multiplayer shenanigans and user-generated content. Is that what you want gaming to be about?

Reminds me of the old "Avatar can't be that popular because it doesn't have much fan fiction" argument. If we're using AO3 to gauge popularity, then Bungo Stray Dogs is more popular than Dragon Ball and One Piece.

I would bump The Last Jedi and Revenge of the Sith up a couple places and I never got around to Solo but otherwise this list is basically how I feel. The erosion of the barrier between mainline Star Wars and the Expanded Universe is one of the biggest mistakes of the Disney era.

Another great example: Xenoblade Chronicles was a popular RPG beloved by all, Dragon's Dogma was an overlooked gem. Guess which of those games sold more

I've been listening to a lot of trio-era Genesis lately so I know how the feels (not defending Invisible Touch or We Can't Dance though, people were right about those)
