i appreciate everyone’s suggestions so thank you very much but i talked to my supervisor and she suggested “extradyadic person” or “extradyadic relationship” which i just think is perfect

that’s a good question! unfortunately i think he usually describes her by her first name which is something i generally try to avoid unless it’s necessary. if my notes ever get subpoenaed, i’d rather they didn’t contain a bunch of names or other identifying details

i think this would probably work in most contexts depending on the level of emotional involvement. in this case however, given the limited scope and time of their relationship, it feels inaccurate to call them partners
