Plants "bleed" too, but through gases!
When wounded, ethylene leaks out and oxygen seeps in. This gas shift acts as an alarm, triggering self-repair to seal the breach. Excited to share our new collaborative work uncovering this clever plant mechanism! Excellent summary here, indulge!

Increase your device's brightness a bit for better visibility...It's surreal.
Open this photo up and look for the small, white dot just left of centre.

It looks like Venus, shining brightly in the twilight sky.

But it's us.

It's Earth.

From Mars.

April is Helmet Awareness Month. Please wear your helmets when riding motorbikes and seatbelts when in a car. Helmets can reduce the risk of head injury by 70%. Messy hair is fine. Life is so much more precious.

Be careful on the road and always avoid distractions. Never drink and drive.

Never lose yourself so much that it gets harder for you to find yourself back to you- If there's anyone in your life who loves you or cares for you, each time you leave for the road, please drive with care.

As more people are immigrating now than ever before, the mass production of greenhouse gases is degrading the environment faster than at any moment in the past.
A forest twice the size of Greater London would need to be planted in the UK to cancel out the extra emissions from the expansion of Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton airports.

That's more than 300,000 hectares...

Culture, as we see from the outside is often a simplified view, a generic portrayal as a whole. But there's so much more to it. It is made up of people who have their own ways of looking at the world. It consists of people with their own unique experiences within it.

Brainwide silencing of prion protein by AAV-mediated delivery of an engineered compact epigenetic editor
Prion disease is caused by misfolding of the prion protein (PrP) into pathogenic self-propagating conformations, leading to rapid-onset dementia and death. However, elimination of endogenous PrP halts...

Quantum computing uses quantum physics to perform calculations far faster than today's supercomputers. What breakthroughs might we see in the field in 2025?

Dr. Shohini Ghose joins us for a quantum computing check-in.

This week, I had ordered 3 2nd hand books. The total price was 6 times lesser than the store value. Two of them arrived in brand new condition. They were old but never used. Initially, I kind of felt guilty for not paying the full price. Then decided to change my perspective & feel blessed instead.

It's 18th Jan here. If you are in Asia and if it is night time, go to the balcony now. You would be able to see planets with your eyes. You can see Mars & Venus. Jupiter, Neptune & Uranus are visible too but you will need a telescope for that. So if you have one or can rent one, it's a win win.
