At risk of sounding a grumpy old man none of these “Nu metal” groups seem capable of writing a decent riff. Iommi for all Sabbath’s reputation never bludgeoned you. He knew you needed some contrast. And he was a jazz fan ( and it shows).

I got some unlistenable garbage by Korn today . I try to be fair but track after track of someone screeching how unfair life is not really my thing . I listen to a lot of metal but this was pathetic.

The standout track I think is Nothing Can Be Done with one of the lesser names La Marisoul. Superb voice. If you don’t have it the DVD is worth having and will explain Kris Kristofferson’s contribution. ( He was very I’ll). Great choice again .

Seriously Rachel Griffiths made some strange choices after Six Feet Under. Have you seen Amongst Giants about electric pylon painters ?

Possibly my favourite album of all . So far ahead of its time . Used the Burundi Drummers years before it became fashionable. The critics at the time hated it, Rolling Stone gave it a scathing review. Brilliant artwork and some of her best lyrics which is saying something. Outstanding.

That is a good one . I’ve got what was marketed as the 15th anniversary “ box set” but as it’s from 1990 that makes no sense . It has a few extra tracks and a 50 page booklet . As far as I know this was the only “anniversary “ edition of any of his albums
