#Heraldecember 2025, day 1 prompt - Counterfeit
Can't say if I'll have time, energy or inspiration to do all of the prompts (knowing myself, that's a no), but here's a little something. "Bezants voided" are sometimes refered to as "false roundels". #heraldecember2025

🧵 The fourth entry in my trilobite series comes from the municipality of Skryje. The first written mention of the village dates to 1229. Like many small Czech settlements, it changed hands repeatedly over the centuries, being traded, bought, sold, divided, reunited, and governed by various minor...

🧵 The third municipality in my trilobite series is Málkov in Central Bohemia. A small community of around ninety inhabitants, Málkov is a typical Bohemian agricultural village. Depending on the source, it dates back either to the eleventh or the fourteenth century.

This one is the first, belonging to the town of Jince. (1/6)

I spotted the flag of Český Brod while visiting the town earlier this week. It’s an interesting way of turning the coat of arms into a flag. The original arms follow a common Central European pattern with a city gate and inescutcheons containing the imperial eagle and the Bohemian lion. (1/3)

I had the opportunity to visit another one of "my" towns. This time, it was Bernartice, whose #coatofarms and #flag I designed earlier this year. This small town holds a surprising story. The prominent feature in its coat of arms, an unfinished bridge, (1/6) #heraldry #vexillology

Another visit to Lipnice nad Sázavou for a meeting of the Subcommittee for Heraldry and Vexillology. The town's flag is an excellent way to simplify the historical arms without resorting to a banner of arms. Those are unfortunately overused, and with the overwhelming... (1/2)
