Laugh all you like but, around 20 years ago, I drove from Toronto to Winnipeg (and points beyond) and my only fixed goal for Winnipeg was to cross at the famous Portage and Main intersection. I was disappointed that day. So glad it’s finally fixed.

As of 2025, I'd settle for a bus from St. Catharines to NOTL scheduled around the GO train schedule. It's basically impossible to get to NOTL from Toronto by transit in a timely way, even in the summertime, and I just don't get it.
The NS&T ran throughout the Niagara Peninsula but by 1959 only the Welland Division from Thorold to Port Colborne had passenger service. At one time, passengers from Toronto connected by steamship at Port Dalhousie and rode the electric cars to Niagara Falls. 2/3

It's easy to forget but, until the mid-1990s, Toronto was small, boring and conservative (morally & fiscally). Definitely Montreal's little kid sibling in Canada. Sunday stops for churches were only recently abolished here. Current-day Toronto is big and exciting - but the growing pains are real.
While Toronto politicians and planners sit on a dysfunctional uber stop heavy transit system, Waterloo is making smart changes - removing stops and making remaining ones nicer. Good thing we have major metropolitan centres like . . . Waterloo, to show us the way
