One thing that I thought bugged me about Metal Garden was despite how the premise centered around civilizations carving themselves out of the megastructure, it was hard to tell where these civilizations ended and where the structure began. But in retrospect maybe that was the point.

As much as I adore Ravenfield, and I still find infinite ways into tricking it into doing what I want while it remains so simple and accessible at its core, it has given me a lot of bad habits that I still am trying to unlearn.

Trying to squeeze some texture and environment practice into whatever free time opens up but I fear it's rotting my brain. Was out for a walk yesterday and looked down at the curb and said "hmm, the edges could use more weathering, it looks too clean"

One I been doing for myself: Train oneself to frame shortcomings as ambitions. ie, Not "I've failed to meet these standards that I feel have been set for me", but "I aspire to live up to these standards that I have given myself".

I pin so many of our current problems on the normalization of conspiratorial thinking. I tell myself "I Am Not Immune to Propaganda", and that I need to resist falling into the same trap. But the voice saying "and that's what They WANT you to do" is starting to sound convincing.

Big publishers have always been sus or flat-out scum, that's par for the course. But a lot of other, seemingly unrelated shit is also starting to line up suspiciously well. I want to dismiss the alarm bells in my head as paranoia, but telling myself that only makes them louder.

I try not to be a doomer, I get a lot of our information is given to us by parties who seek to exploit an emotional response. But as out-of-the-loop as I keep myself, the tinfoil flakes in my scalp must be acting up, cos I'm suddenly feeling the walls close in on my little niche.

Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man's Sky are like polar opposites for me. The former feels like walking through a gallery of missed opportunities, but still keeps me engaged. The latter feels like something I want to love, but I just can't, yet I'm not sure why.

The Not-Quite-Deam-Game-But-Still-A-Bit-Too-Ambitious-For-Now idea was a pure open-world, lite-imsim sandbox set in a war torn city where your only task is to (a) escape or (b) reach some heavily guarded destination, dealing with multiple hostile factions along the way.
