Last week, I had a captivating conversation with Dan Willis on #SETILive about the idea that intelligent life could be a natural outcome of planetary evolution. This thought-provoking discussion suggests that intelligent life might be everywhere in our galaxy.👽 #SETI www.seti.org/intelligent-...
Intelligent Life: A Natural Outcome of Planetary Evolution?
For decades, many scientists have relied on the "hard steps" model to suggest that intelligent life is rare — the improbable result of a series of unlikely evolutionary leaps. But new research by post...

A beauty that I captured with my @unistellar.bsky.social telescope from San Francisco. I love those nights of clear weather and no fog. Pretty relaxing and useful to remember why we are doing this.

A perfect way to wrap up the weekend: backyard chill with family, music, and the stars. Despite the city lights of San Francisco, my @unistellar.bsky.social scope let me catch a glimpse of the Antennae Galaxies – just 45 million light-years away and still merging! #astronomy

The flyby of the 100m asteroid 2024 YR4 is uncomfortably very close indeed. 1% chance of impact so far so ESA Planetary Defense has rated at Level 3 on the Torino Impact Hazard Scale. IAWN coordinated a campaign included observations with the VLT from Chile. #PlanetaryDefenseInAction
Recently-discovered #asteroid 2024 YR4 may make a very close approach to Earth in 2032. It is estimated to be 40-100 meters wide. Uncertainty is still high and more and more observations are needed confirm this.

An interesting occultation by PHA 2024YR4 on Feb 6 of a bright 11-mag star. The uncertainty is large and the occultation partial because of the diffraction but if we line up hundreds @unistellar.bsky.social telescopes along the path of uncertainty we will catch it, so refine its orbit. #needfunding

Ucrania cada vez está más cerca del ‘momento Hiroshima’
La gran paradoja es que la política de disuasión pretende evitar la guerra nuclear; sin embargo, esa estrategia puede requerir el uso de armas nucleares
