I feel like people who make a big stink out of Pokémon games having bad graphics might not have been paying attention???
Pokémon has never really lived up to the graphical quality of its contemporaries or its hardware. But that's not really the point. Who plays Pokémon because it *looks* good???

Well, blow me over. This game was not bad. I don't love it as much as its predecessor on DS but New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a solid, well-made 3DS platformer with a pretty cool gimmick. It ain't perfect but I'd recommend trying it if you're interested.

I get it, but on some level that's always gonna strike me as, "I don't want Sonic to be Sonic, I want it to be something else!" This series has tried to be a lot of very different, often totally-incompatible things, haha.

Playing Galaxy 1 again for the first time in a long time made me realize how the game almost plays like 3D Mario but feels closer to 2D Mario in a sense. Almost like a midpoint between games like 64 and Sunshine and games like 3D Land and 3D World. I find that fascinating to look back on.

There's some cool stuff on Switch 2 but it is held up by the Switch 1 catalog. It's more of a good thing than a bad thing to me because even if the Switch 2 exclusives don't catch your eye, there are several games for Switch 1 that are worth playing.

As a 13 year old kid who had grown up rooting for Sega, seeing a Sonic game on a Nintendo console for the first time... seeing THIS on Nintendo Power... felt like the fakest reality I had ever felt. The world turned upside down, and it *still* doesn't feel quite normal.
